Further Information
An information board next to the memorial explains that around it are four stones, as follows:-

1. In honour of ST. COLUMBA and our Celtic Fathers in the Faith, this stone from Iona.

2. In honour of ST. ALDHELM and our Saxon Fathers in the Faith, this stone from SHERBORNE ABBEY

3. In honour of THOMAS BECKET to whom this Cathedral is dedicated, and of our Norman fathers in the Faith, this stone from the Metropolitan Church of CANTERBURY.

4. In honour of our Mother Diocese, this stone from WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL.

May these stones, sent to our Cathedral church now from ancient Anctuaries of the Faith, where Christian Worship is still offered, ever inspire those who come after us to endure valiantly for the Faith once delivered to the Saints.
